Prior to engaging in the corporate performance programme, the group was already profitable but performance of the retail stores was inconsistent year on year. Partly due to a high turnover of senior management staff, store managers had fallen into a role of caretakers with their entrepreneurial skills having been dampened. A new approach was needed to get everyone in the same boat and rowing in the same direction. But first it was necessary to analyse the potential and identify the barriers to change.
