In mid 2009, GBE Consulting performed a review of back-office operations at one of South Africa’s leading short term insurance providers. Despite a Billion Dollar turnover the company made an overall loss in the 2008/9 financial year.
It was clearly apparent to the Executive that action had to be taken after ten years of growth in fixed and variable costs and competitive erosion of margins. GBE was brought on board to assist, initially through a strategic role, providing researched strategic options to the Board as they embarked on a nationwide cost savings initiative.
