Gold Mine - South Africa

Due to the commodity price coming under pressure and the currency exchange rate becoming more unfavourable, the management of the mine realised that direct costs needed to be addressed as a matter of urgency. The managers and employees (7000) at the mine had a history of good production performance due to the ore body (Ave 12g/t) and production at “any” cost was the culture.

All input costs were within the scope of the project and needed to be addressed to ensure a cost effective mining operation without negatively impacting on safety whilst maintaining current and projected production.
